• Sponsorship Coordinator

    11th Hour Racing establishes strategic partnerships within the sailing and maritime communities to promote collaborative, systemic change benefitting the health of our ocean – one degree at a time. Since 2010, the organization has been harnessing the power of sport with an innovative and comprehensive approach through three primary areas of engagement: sponsorships, grantees, and ambassadors
     
     
     We use the power of sport to sell sustainability instead of products. By sponsoring organizations and events interested in reducing their environmental impact, we enable them to become leaders in ocean health. Our sponsorships provide funds, tools, and resources to empower with a focus on sport, strategic innovation, and sustainable technologies. We place a strong emphasis on the connection between land and water — because what happens on land affects our ocean and waterways.  We are looking for a truly exceptional person to assist with 11th Hour Racing’s sponsorships through a portfolio covering a spectrum of sailing teams, events, as well as marine industry, and community partners.  
     
    The Sponsorship Coordinator must have an excellent work ethic, be highly skilled with time and project management, and be willing to jump in with both feet on multiple projects at a time. The successful candidate will be highly productive and collaborative,  and be prepared to support a portfolio of varied and dynamic projects.  
     
    This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly position reporting to the Sponsorship Director and will be based out of our Newport, RI office. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Work with the sponsorship team to keep and monitor a detailed list of milestones for each sponsorship project and provide regular updates on progress to the Sponsorship Director
      • Assist with the project management of activations for sponsorships
      • Create detailed schedules of events and logistics for sponsorship events
      • Handle administrative tasks for the Sponsorship Department. Requirements in this area include:
      • Maintaining and sharing meeting minutes when required: Managing department expense reports, providing drafting contract support to the department, assist in maintaining department and project budgets, invoice submission and maintenance of department folders
      • Contribute to internal research projects when required
      • Assist with other projects and activities as assigned  
      • Infrequent travel may be required 

    MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL, & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

      • Brings a passion for the mission of 11th Hour Racing 
      • Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills 
      • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English 
      • Strong interpersonal skills to interface and coordinate professionally with a number of diverse internal  and external contacts, including partners, vendors, and fellow team members 
      • Strong ability to work through administrative processes with a keen attention to detail 
      • Flexibility to work simultaneously on a wide range of projects and ability to prioritize tasks, manage  time effectively, and meet deadlines 
      • Ability to work legally in the United States 

    MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Marketing, or similar disciplines with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position. (preferred)
      • Proven success in the administration of sports sponsorship or similar project management
      • Experience with large-scale events, sporting events preferred 
      • Excellent word processing skills and fluency with MS Office, Google Suite, and online databases
      • 4- plus years of relevant administrative experience  
      • Knowledge of ocean and marine industries is strongly preferred 
    $25 - $35 an hour
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
     
    This position does not supervise any employees at this time. 
     
    WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
     
    Approximately 95% of time spent on the job involves the use of a video display terminal; therefore, the candidate must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. This position primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activities: lifting and carrying materials weighing up to  50 pounds, kneeling, and bending. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers and. 
     
    OTHER INFORMATION 
     
    Employees must adhere to all applicable organizational policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to travel and work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands. A background check will be conducted for the final candidate. 
     
    This is a non exempt position
