Architectural Designer - Residential

JPS Construction and Design is a design and build company located in Middletown, RI. We are growing and looking for a full-time Residential Architectural Designer to join our design team. The ideal candidate must have at least four years of experience working on custom residential wood frame architecture and is comfortable with the residential construction process. This individual must be well rounded in all aspects of project delivery including design, presentation and construction documents. Experience with ArchiCAD preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Measure and document existing conditions.
• Design new custom homes, additions and renovations.
• Prepare drawings necessary to secure building permits.
• Specify products including, but not limited to, siding and roofing, interior and exterior trim, windows, and flooring.

Education and Experience:

Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a field related to architecture, engineering, or construction and has had a minimum of 2 years of experience working in an architecture, engineering, or construction firm on wood frame residential projects OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working on construction sites is also desirable. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or ArchiCAD preferred.

Skills:

• Mastery of AutoCAD, Revit, and/or ArchiCAD - residential experience is REQUIRED
• Proficiency with 3D modeling.
• Ability to create, read, and interpret construction documents.
• Ability to read and interpret building codes, zoning codes, and historic guidelines
• Familiarity with relevant materials, methods, and codes for wood frame construction
• Ability to communicate professionally in oral and written forms
• Proficiency with Adobe software including photoshop
• Proficiency with Apple products and software including Mac OS, Numbers, and Pages
