    Position Overview
    Newport Classical (NC), a premier performing arts organization celebrating classical music, is seeking Production Crew members to support our iconic summer Music Festival. The stage crew is responsible for the efficient execution of all performance production and logistics, which in turn ensures that our audiences have safe and pleasant experiences while attending our concerts. The Festival includes 29 performances held at 11 unique venues located primarliy in Newport with additional venues in Middletown & Bristol. As part of the production crew, this role assists with the setup of concert spaces, including staging, PA system, seating, and signage, ensuring everything is ready for the event.
     
    Key Roles and Responsibilities
    • Under the direction of the Stage Manager the Production Crew is responsible for:
    • Daily stage setup and breakdown, including 4x8 platforms, stairs etc.
    • PA setup and breakdown
    • Move boxes and equipment to and from venues.
    • Place chairs for audience seating in accordance with the seating chart specific to that concert and venue and breakdown seating after concert.
    • Assist with piano moves.
    • Driving of production vehicle(s) required
     
    Requirements & Skills
    • Excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities.
    • Resourceful; able to anticipate needs and proactively solve problems quickly.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds for extended periods.
    • Availability for weekends, evenings, and early mornings; flexible scheduling preferred.
    • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass DMV and background checks.
    • Interest or background in performing arts, particularly classical music, is a plus.
    • Must have a valid Rhode Island address.
    • Reliable personal transportation required for commuting to Newport, Middletown, and Bristol work locations.
     
     
     
     
     
    Time Commitment & Compensation
    • Location: primarily based in Newport, Rhode Island
    • Position type: Seasonal
    • Pay rate: $22.00/hr.
    • Time period: July 3 – July 25
    • Minimum 40 hrs/week with flexibility to work overtime when needed.
    • Weekends, evenings, and early morning availability required.
