    Reports to: Director of Engagement

     

    Job Summary: The Education Coordinator plays an essential role in furthering NRF’s public-facing work by providing public program and event support, developing educational curriculums, and facilitating the newly organized internship program for the organization as a whole.

     

    Salary: $50,000 annually ($24.00 per hour based on a 40 hour, Monday to Friday, year round)

    Specific Responsibilities:

     

    The Education Coordinator will work under the guidance of Director of Engagement, as well as work closely with other NRF departments including Visitor Services, Communications, Development, and Preservation

     

    · Work with the Director of Engagement to develop public programs that reflect NRF initiatives—including programs that work to make public-facing sites more inclusive, accessible, and mission-centric

     

    · Work with the heads of Departments to recruit and supervise interns for departmental projects and ensure that internships contribute to the skill-building and professional development of the participants

     

    · Work with the Visitor Services Manager to further develop training programs for frontline staff and other public-facing roles.

     

    · Provide support for the Telling Stories internship program—including recruiting students and researchers to further Telling Stories projects

     

    · Evaluate the expanded internship program and plan for future growth and sustainability

     

    · Work with the Development & Donor Relations Manager to provide support to friend/fundraising events

     

    · Continue to develop collaborative partnerships with other educational and cultural organizations to further NRF audience growth and outreach

     

    · Develop curriculum to help connect K-12 students with NRF initiatives—including museum collections, historical research, gardening and conservation, climate change resiliency, and historic preservation

     

    · Work with the Communications team to share NRF’s public education work through social media platforms, the NRF website, and other related content

     

    Qualifications:

     

    · Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (history, art history, education, preservation, museum studies, etc.)

     

    · 2+ years or equivalent experience in programs in a public-facing role

     

    · Experience creating and/or updating curriculums for K-12 students, and experience working with other educators to develop educational content

     

    · Detail-oriented, organized, and has the demonstrated ability to work independently

     

    · Excellent communications skills; can communicate effectively with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences (colleagues and other stakeholders)

     

    · A team player who is capable of collaborating across NRF departments
