Description:
Responsible for providing high quality educational programming for all ages, including but not limited to field trips, adult education programming, summer and vacation camps, guided walks, etc. The Per diem Teacher Naturalist should be very comfortable in a teaching setting and have a passion for nature.
- Education Programming: Support field trips, lead adult and child educational programs, guide nature walks, support summer camp and vacation camps, host visitors in our Curiosity Lab, support group curriculum delivery.
- Support Curriculum Development
- Help Prepare for Seasonal Activities (Coastal Education Center, Bird Box Project, camp staff recruitment)
- Develop and deliver programs in our Curiosity Lab Puppet Theatre
- Maintain order and cleanliness of the Field Tool Closet—including tracking equipment loans and cleaning loaned equipment upon return
- Maintain order and cleanliness of all shared spaces
- Organize and inventory Biofacts/Supply Closets/Craft closets
- Support the Education Team with all set-up and breakdown tasks
- Setting up and maintaining equipment and workspaces
- Clerical Duties as Assigned
- Housekeeping Duties as Assigned
- Encourage and report feedback from visitors and event attendees
- Support NBS staff with the preparation and execution of crafts, story time, and station set ups.
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Able to walk a minimum of two miles on uneven, rocky terrain
- Able to work outside year-round in all types of weather
- Willing and Able to pass a nationwide background check
