    Seeking Seasonal/Seasoned Tour Coordinator, p/t
     
    Rhode Island Slave History Medallions (RISHM), a nonprofit organization based in Newport, RI, is hiring a p/t Tour Coordinator to manage our seasonal (typically, May thru November) NewportBlack History Walking Tours, as well as occasional custom tours of our RISHM Medallions across Rhode Island. Our bronze, granite and digital (QR coded) markers tell the story of the local history ofslavery and enslaved people in the colonial era.
     
    Seasonal Tour Coordinator job duties include:

    • Supporting RISHM team in the marketing of tours
    • Monitoring and reporting ticket sales via our website (www.rishm.org) and our bookingplatform
    • Scheduling tour guides and coordinating with tour and cruise companies, and other groups and associations, as needed
    • Occasionally being on-site in downtown Newport to greet and welcome guests for tours, mostly occurring on weekend or Monday mornings thru November
    • Gathering and recording surveys of customer feedback; responding in a professional manner to reviews and testimonials
    • Collaborating with RISHM leadership team to report progress, addressing feedback comments,and ensuring a seamless and excellent tour experience for all
     
    Ideal candidates will have basic computer skills (MS Office, Google Suite, etc.), tour or hospitalityexperience, excellent communication and organizational skills, an outgoing personality with an interest in RI history and social justice.     This part-time, seasonal position starts at $28/hour, 15-20 hours/week with a mix of remote and on-site hours. Potential to work over the winter season and evolve into a full-time role with more responsibility in 2025.
