    Rhode Island Slave History Medallions (RISHM), a nonprofit organization based in Newport, RI, is hiring a p/t Tour Assistant/Intern to manage our seasonal (typically, May thru November) Newport Black HistoryWalking Tours. RISHM’s bronze, granite and digital (QR coded) markers tell the story of the local historyof slavery and enslaved people in the colonial era.
     
    RISHM’s Seasonal Tour Assistant/Intern part-time job duties include:
     

    • Greeting tour guests on-site in downtown Newport and assisting the expert tour guides throughout a 75-minute tour; Tours mostly occur on Saturday, Sunday or Monday mornings, from June thru November 2024
    • Gathering and recording surveys of customer feedback; sometimes Tour Assistant may be asked to respond in a professional manner to online reviews and testimonials
    • Collaborating with RISHM leadership team to report participation data and feedback in a timely manner, addressing feedback comments, and ensuring a seamless and excellent tour experience for all
    • Assist Executive Director or Program Manager with special requests as needed
     
    Ideal candidates will have basic computer skills (MS Office, Google Suite, etc.), tour or hospitalityexperience, pleasant communication and acute organizational skills, an outgoing personality with an interest in RI history and social justice.     This part-time, seasonalposition starts at $22/hour, 10-15 hours/week with a mix ofremote and on-site hours.
