Nine candidates for Middletown Town Council gathered at the Columbus Hall on Sept. 9, where they offered their views on short-term rentals, environmental initiatives and the new middle-high school construction project.
The forum was attended by over 50 people and organized by the League of Women Voters of Newport County, AARP Rhode Island and Newport This Week. Erin Donovan-Boyle, of the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce, served as moderator.
Candidates are Leonidas Amarant, Peter Connerton, Lawrence Frank, Christopher Logan, Paul Rodrigues, Dennis Turano, Antoine Viveiros, Barbara VonVillas, and Thomas Welch. Challengers Bryan Hoffman and Charles Roberts were unable to attend.
